Writers WorkSpace is pleased to host a free evening of fiction and dance in the spirit of October, featuring sound-and-movement duo Microgig and science-fiction writer William Shunn. On a mission to bring dance to places it's not normally found, Microgig members Asimina Chremos (dance) and Fred Lonberg-Holm (sound) will stage their haunting improvisations in this unusually close and intimate setting. Bookended by chilling short stories read live by the Hugo and Nebula Award-nominated Shunn, the evening will be one you won't want to miss. Space is limited, so arrive early. Light refreshments will be offered.

Microgig is the duo project of dancer Asimina Chremos and cellist Fred Lonberg-Holm. Their mission is to perform in places which would not normally host live music or dance events. The project was initially conceived for, and subsequently funded by, a grant from the 2008 Crosscut Program, a partnership of Experimental Sound Studio and Links Hall in Chicago. To date, the duo has performed in a van, a beer cooler, a swanky modern "coach house" on private property, a backyard garden and a storefront window among other places.

William Shunn is the author of more than two dozen short stories, which have appeared everywhere from Asimov's to Salon. He is a past nominee for the Hugo, Nebula, and Theodore Sturgeon Memorial Awards. A chapbook of his stories, An Alternate History of the 21st Century, was published by Spilt Milk Press in 2007, and his novella Cast a Cold Eye (co-written with Derryl Murphy) appears from PS Publishing in November 2009. He lives in Chicago.
